abc7 news begins with breaking news. from campbell, a gas leak forced the evacuation of 80 homes. the leak now is capped. residents are waiting for the all-clear. thanks for joining us. a construction crew caused the leak this morning. evacuees were sent to the campbell community center on campbell avenue five minutes away. matt keller has the latest. matt? yes, the danger is past. the leak is patched.

the evacuation and shelter in place order is lifted. we shot video 15 or 20 minutes ago. you could check it out. it started at 8:45 a.m. when a construction crew hit a 4" gas main. firefighters took over the scene. pg&e was called. campbell police blocked the roads and went door-to-door to the homes. a shelter-in-place order was given a quarter-mile of the leak and notified by reverse 9-1-1 system and capped at 10:29 with the order listed 15 minutes later. good thing it happened this time of day because most people were at work. the campbell community center has maybe one person showing up and not a lot people who had to use the shoal step in place at the campbell community center. as for the scene, they have to move out equipment and work and that scene so the traffic is going to be blocked off here for

at least a little while longer. thank you. police in oak land are investigating an accident where a pedestrian was hit by a car in the fruitvale district that happened after 10 pock last night near 35th avenue and international boulevard. the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. driver also hit another car. police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor and the driver cooperating. international manufactured re-opened around 6:00 this morning. oakland announced they are receiving were needed help in the effort to fight crime. the city is getting $2 million state grant to reduce christmas and violins. we assembly members joined oakland mayor quan and police chief at city hall for the announcement. the money was set aside to a special fund in the 2014-2015 state budget. oakland was selected because of the improving but high crime

rate. >> there was a spectacular fire on mare island last night at 7:00 p.m. at abandoned marine barracks. it took firefighters two hours to get the four-alarm fire under control. they then let it burn it sell out. the building has been empty for years. homeless people have been known to stay there. no injuries were reported. >> two motorcyclists are dead after they crashed trying to get away from a gunfight in the bay area in san francisco. it happened after 5:00 p.m. yesterday on that sole avenue. ones say the two were riding around in the neighborhood for quite some time before a dozen shots rang out. they were both pronounced dead at the hospital. they childed trying to escape. if you know anyone with information, call the police. >> san jose investigators are looking into the deaths of two women whose decomposing bodies

high fire danger for your area until 5:00 tomorrow morning. you can see all the area shaded in red, entire area shaded in red but for the coastline is under the possibility of a high fire danger through the time. we have been tracking all morning the western slope of the sierra and, also, the central valley but, now, the thunderstorm threat we talked about could actually generate over our neighborhoods and that is why we are under that. you can see where the lightning strikes are in the central valley some popping up in the last half hour like these, right there, on the western slope as you head upstream or into the mountains, naturally lits the moisture. you can see where the moisture plume is headed right new and that is through the high country and into nevada but the area low pressure is developing all of this has backed away from the coast, brought that moisture them closer to us and we are
